A look back at INEAS' participation in the 4th WHO Global Pricing Forum, held virtually from 6 to 8 February:

The Tunisian experience on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) between achievements and challenges was presented in the session "Using Health Technology Assessment to improve affordable access to essential medicines".This session brought together experts from government and academia and was an opportunity to discuss the multiple barriers to using value assessment through HTA to inform pricing, particularly in emerging countries. In the literature, these barriers range from "lack of data, to lack of technical expertise in HTA, to the technocratic nature of the work, etc.". The panelists presented their views on some of these barriers and described possible ways to overcome them. Dr. Jameleddine (Head of the HTA Department at INEAS) presented the strategy followed by INEAS to build an HTA-based ecosystem in Tunisia, the challenges and ongoing reforms that will impact the access process in Tunisia and enable HTA to play a more important role in improving access to affordable technologies, as stipulated in the National Health Policy for 2030.
